[About Hope]

“I have just three things to teach: Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and in thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.” ~ Tao Te Ching
These qualities are a focus in my life, but since having knee surgery, I’ve had the opportunity to take my understanding to a new level. We create interesting healing projects and challenging life circumstances as learning tools.
We may do really well with simplicity, patience and compassion, but what happens when we’re challenged? It’s always about deepening into these qualities on a personal level. That is when the learning is on a soul level and becomes eternal.
We can’t nurture the truth within ourselves by trying to change those around us. Then we wonder when they will embrace what we think is the truth. None of us knows the truth for someone else. We only know it for ourselves. We are at our best when we are living and demonstrating the best example of who we are—without self judgement!
Life is really simple when the main decision is where to sit. I’ve been able to do things that I haven’t done in awhile like just relaxing and listening to music.
Healing requires patience. I am learning a new level of patience by walking slowly, asking for help and curbing my schedule so I have time for healing and rest. I thought I would drive soon after surgery, but have an extra week or so to practice asking for help and rides—I’m a good student!
As the healing proceeds, it’s a great test to keep a compassionate perspective on myself. What is my self worth? What makes me valuable? Can I forgive myself and release guilt and just have love for myself? Then, I see love in everyone I meet and in all circumstances. All is forgiven. That is how we reconcile with all of humanity—by remembering that what we judge in others we are judging in ourselves. Forgive all, and be at peace.
I remind myself to have amusement, play and to be in kindergarten. I embrace all these concepts daily. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience their value more deeply, and to have the chance to receive help from my friends.
Each day I savor every moment, and release the need to compare myself to others or myself. All is perfection in this moment. This gives me a peaceful power, steadfast in my trust in myself, and connection to the Divine within.
Happy healing, on whatever you are working on!
