Dare To Disappoint
“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?”— Gabrielle Roth.
Have you stopped tending to the sacred beingness of you? It’s more important now than ever! Two very opposing worlds are colliding with major intensity, the fear-based world of greed and the good of a few, and the heart-based world of Oneness, Unity and the good of all. Which sphere of awareness you are in depends on you!
You must take full responsibility for where you find yourself in relationship to all in your life. This is not said to be punishing. This is said to be empowering. You can’t change and heal something in your life that you blame on someone else or some circumstance. Yes, people can be annoying, manipulative, and sometimes scary. But if you blame, you are stuck in their energy. You are not seeing that only love is real. All else is the lie of separation playing out through someone who can’t hold their vibration high enough yet.
Karma works in two ways. One level are the immediate effects on the chemical makeup of our body, the result of thinking a negative thought. Pay attention to your thoughts and which emotions you are indulging! Remind yourself that you came to Earth with some core pain that you are healing. Over and over, life will present to you situations and people to challenge you to choose love over the fear. We must each choose the loving path. This is how we heal the pain. Each night, before you go to sleep, review your day and notice where you had the opportunity that day to choose a loving awareness over a fear-based one. As you validate this ability, it gets stronger and stronger, and less time is spent in your mind dwelling on what isn’t right, or what should have been different, or what the big problem is.
The other level where we see karma at work is in the bigger picture. Along with our own personal pain to heal, we come to Earth to resolve long-term patterns that keep us in challenging relationships with family, partners, friends and acquaintences. These are group agreements. Created over many lifetimes, they are ended through the healing act of forgiveness and self love. Spend some time noticing these patterns and explore how to forgive and free yourself. At the end of each day, don’t forget to validate some aspect of the day where you found yourself in forgiveness, empathy and compassion instead of blaming or being a victim!
There is no reason to continue a negative karma-based existence when you know who you are as Spirit and how the energy of cause and effect works. Live your dharma. Cause /cause. Make more choices from your heart, and only follow the voice that leads you to kindness towards yourself and another. I like the word kindness, because love has been used to manipulate and justify behavior so much. But it’s hard to fudge kindness.
A way to facilitate our ability to act from our loving, spiritual center is found in Gabrielle Roth’s quote! It makes so much sense and it’s so simple! When I look at why we have lost our spontaneity with dance, singing and meditation, I see it stemming from times in this life when we got the message from those “in charge,” like parents, teachers, etc… that engaging in such things is not important, not relevant to life. We learn to be ashamed of our expression and creativity, and we also learn that we can be judged on these things when we do them, and so we don’t want to appear stupid or not perfect.
When we learned the lie that other’s opinions matter, we lost so much or our unique and honest expression. When we learned that we can be shunned or not loved if we don’t fit in, or that sitting quietly is seen as odd or a waste if time, we lost our connection with God within us. When we learned that picking up an instrument or singing isn’t worth it unless you are going to make money, or you are not as good as someone else, we lost more of ourselves again.
If only the famous people wrote, sang, created art, and danced, it would be a colorless world. If people think that truly meditating and connecting with divinity occurs through a white, male priest-like surrogate, the world becomes separated from spirituality and spirals out of control as technology and fear freezes people’s connection and we find ourselves in a world where it’s okay to neglect each other. Oh, wait, that is what happened!
But we are healing it! Each day, when you wake up and say, “I AM happy to be here!” you are tuning into your joy. Each day when you feel like you are a victim and you choose to see things from a new, love-based perspective, you have healed a piece of your world, and you move closer to living in the amazing vibration of your truth. Each day, when you find a way to express yourself—regardless of who will be disappointed in you or who compares you to someone else, you are feeding your light, and you help light the entire world on its path back to human connection based on kindness and love.
